Devi's log */**/**
It's been a week since I got my armor. Demi and I have been practicing transforming so it wouldn't wear us out as much during battle. It was kinda hard and weird to be in armor form but I think I'm getting use to it. I think Demi is too. Before hand she would lay on my head or shoulder after the transformation, but she later got back to her usual self.
I wonder when Tenna and Eric will get their armor? Especially Eric, since he doesn't have a familiar to transform with...Well I better get to bed. I still have some work to do and gonna meet my friends at Mina's shop.
****
It was late morning, Tenna was walking around the neighborhood. She was just walking along the side walk and noticed an unusual lady with a boy with black hair, across the street. The lady had odd color skin. It almost look green or faded a brown, grayish color and she looked like she never ate before. She wore a red long sleeve top with blue sleeve cuffs and long red skirt that matched the shirt. Another odd thing about her was she wore what look to be bandages on her hands and on her legs down to her feet. Her short black hair was a little messy and was held back by a hairband. She also seemed to have yellowish eyes. Dangling on her wrists were two golden bangles.
Tenna had never seen such a strange woman. She must have a bad health condition or illness... Tenna thought to herself. The boy though was completely normal. He had short black hair, light skin and wore a yellow shirt, a gray jacket and blue jeans. The lady seemed to be helping the boy with his bike. The boy looked around as if he was trying to make sure the coast was clear. He didn't seem to spot Tenna though so he whispered something to the lady.
The lady's expression turned unsure and said something to the boy. Tenna couldn't make out what they were saying. Next thing the lady shrugged and nodded as if agreeing upon what the boy said. She then put her hands to her head, as if to concentrate on something and said a few words. The next thing that happened, Tenna would never forget as Tenna squealed and ran off.
****
"Guys!" Tenna said as she ran into the antique shop where her friends were at.
"Hmm?" Her friends looked up at her.
"Hey Tenna whats up?" Devi asked curiously.
"You won't believe what I just saw just a while ago today!" Tenna said
"Woah, calm down Tenna." Eric told her.
"Yeah what's this about?" Devi asked
****
"So the woman said a few words and one of the bike tires just started over inflating with air?" Devi asked, not really believing what she was saying.
"Yes that's what happened!" Tenna said frantically "She and the kid tried hanging onto the bike, when it started to float away and actually started lifting them up! Then it popped and dropped them."
"Spooky!" Mr.Spooky nodded
"I ran off after that so I could come here and tell you guys!" Tenna said
"Are you sure you're just not imagining things?" Eric asked "This story seems far fetched and this is coming from a vampire bat."
"Yeah, are you sure you aren't just watching too many sci fi movies?" Devi asked.
"No, seriously!" Tenna said "It's true!"
"Come on, guys." Demi said "This sounds too weird for it to be a lie and besides, even Mr.Spooky said he saw what happened."
"Mina?" Devi asked as she turned to her to see if she believed Tenna's story.
"Hmm..." Mina replied "I don't doubt Tenna saw something unusual. What it sounds like is, it could be a magician and by the sounds of it, a rank one type. By the looks of it, if this lady is indeed a magician or uses magic powers, it would seem like she still hasn't gotten complete control of her powers or doesn't know how to casts spells correctly."
"Do you think she could be the 4th knight that we've been looking for?" Tenna asked
"Only your leader can decide on that." Mina simply replied.
"Hmm..." Devi replied "Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to check it out. She might be the fourth knight or she could be a good ally."
"Yes and we should also check to see if she is with the Dark Master." Eric added
"Why would a member of the darkness be with a kid?" Tenna asked as she thought what Eric said was unusual.
"She could be pretending or blending in." Eric added "And if she isn't working for the Darkness then we need to protect her, in case the Dark Master and his cronies want to use her."
"That makes a lot of sense." Tenna replied
"Then that's what we'll do." Devi decided.
As they walked out of the shop, they didn't have to go and look for the mysterious woman, for as they were walking toward's the mall's exit, Tenna spotted the woman along with the boy and a younger red head girl. The red head girl had short red hair that went down to her neck, a green jacket, an orange shirt that showed her stomach and gray baggy pants.
Tenna grabbed her friends and hid behind some plants and pointed to the woman and the two kids, who seemed to have walked closer to them as they ran to hide. The woman sat down on a bench not far from the plants, that the three knights were hiding behind.
"So that's her?" Eric asked as he flew onto Tenna's head. "Woah, you weren't kidding about her being odd looking..."
"I told you!" Tenna replied as quietly as she could. "She looks ill or something, I kinda wonder if she should be out and about even."
"Well, maybe she's not ill." Devi added "She could have just some strange skin condition or something and be perfectly healthy."
"But she looks so skinny!" Tenna replied "I mean, yeah, we're tooth picks in appearances, but least we're healthy skinny...Her rib cage seems to be showing!"
"She looks like she's dressed up as a mummy..." Devi remarked As she recalled a certain friend of Eric's "Maybe the bandages are part of some sort of style."
Eric chuckled as he knew what her remark was about "Maybe, I always thought Oblivia was the only one that did the mummy thing. However, it could be possibly a rare trend..."
"Not with her skin color..." Tenna added
"What about those two kids with her?" Devi asked
"Well that boy is the boy I was talking about." Tenna said "But never seen that girl before."
"Looks like she cares a lot about them." Demi added As she noticed the woman helping the girl tie her shoes. "She seems really nice." Demi added with a smile. The woman indeed had a kind warm expression. Sure wasn't physically the prettiest person in the world, but by her expressions and actions she clearly had beauty and warmth within her.
"Well we should talk to her." Tenna recommended "She might be the one!" As soon as she turned and got up slightly, she was soon facing the strange woman, who had came over to the plants there. Both of Tenna and the woman jumped in startle!
****
"Sorry about that..." Tenna said as she clasped her hands in a "Indian prayer" pose with a guilty face as she chuckled a bit.
"Oh, no its fine." The woman said with a kind smile. "I guess my appearance is a bit odd to some folks. Oh and my name is Nile and these two are Alex (she put her hand on the boy's shoulder) and Samantha. (she put her hand on the girl's shoulder)"
"I'm Tenna." Tenna introduced herself.
"I'm Devi" Devi replied
"and I..." Devi grabbed Eric before he could say anything being he was still in bat form.
"You're gonna be quiet..." Devi whispered to him. Eric sighed but was already spotted by the two kids.
"Is that a bat?" Samantha asked
"Um yeah, he's..a pet...." Devi said nervously then she pressed her on his head and added "A quiet pet..."
"You have a bat for a pet?" Samantha asked "Oh neat-o! Can we get a pet bat Nile?"
"I don't think your creators would appreciate it..." Nile said
"Creators?" Tenna asked
"She means our parents." Alex explained plainly. "Nile's from out of country."
"Egypt, by any chance?" Devi asked
"Why yes!" Nile added happily.
"Yeah, anyway, bat's aren't quiet either..." Alex said Apparently he was the more logical one. "They make all kinds of racket..."
"How you train it to go to places with you?" Samantha asked.
"Um..." Devi replied trying to think of a good one. "Well he's just really smart and just can understand commands better than most bats."
"Oh that's cool!" Samantha said "What's his name?"
"Eric." Devi answered
"That's kinda an odd name for a bat..." Alex added This made Eric sighed in annoyance.
"Oh Alex, don't be such a poo!" Samantha snapped at her brother.
"So I take it you're just watching these two?" Tenna asked
"Yeah, I'm their nanny" Nile replied "My noble employers are Julius and Dorothy Elsewhere. They hired me a while ago being they're busy a lot."
"Yeah, mom's a biologist." Samantha said
"And dad's a writer that likes to travel around a lot." Alex explained.
"Oh that's cool!" Tenna said "Um anyway...We wanted to talk to you about something..." Tenna searched in her head trying to find the best way of putting this. "Um you see...Don't flip out, but um as I was passing by your house I kinda saw you did something kinda strange....But it was really cool at the same time!"
"Tenna!" Devi snapped as she wondered if it was alright to bring such when they had just met them.
Nile and the kids got a surprise and worried look on their face.
"Oh no, don't worry!" Tenna assured them. "Um...We just wanted to know what I saw was just my imagination or not... I saw you chant some spell or something and it made Alex's bike float in the air..."
Nile started to shake nervously a little bit but Samantha calmed her down and said "Um you must be going crazy...Hehehe! Nile can't do things like that."
Then Eric decided to speak "It's okay!" which startled the others as he continued "It's okay, we're magic too!"
"You can talk!" Samantha exclaimed
"By Isis what is going on!?" Nile exclaimed
"Eric!" Devi snapped
"Well, its the only thing I thought might calm them down and better the situation..." Eric explained then he turned to Nile and the kids "Hi, I'm Eric Vanheart, please to meet you..." He said this he did a little bow.
"How can you talk?" Samantha asked
"I'm really not a bat." Eric said "Well what I mean to say this is just my bat form. I'm really a vampire, but don't worry, I don't drink the blood of humans especially children. Anyway, we didn't mean to startle you, we just wanted to know, are you by any chance a magician Nile?"
"Well...." Nile replied a bit unsure as she looked at the children.
"We won't force you to tell us anything." Devi assured her "And of course we won't tell anyone. We're magic users too as Eric said, so we know what its like to have a abnormal secret." Then she eyed Eric and said "Well MOST of the time we try to keep it a secret." Eric bowed his head and lowered his ears as she said this.
"Yeah..." Tenna said "You know how all of a sudden the tire popped?..."
"Yeah?" Alex said
"Well when I saw you guys were in trouble, Mr.Spooky and I helped you by blowing out the tire..." Tenna explained.
"Mr.Spooky?" Alex asked
"Spooky!" Then out crawled Mr.Spooky onto Tenna's shoulder. Nile and the kids looked in surprised
"And I'm Demi!" Said Demi as she crawled onto Devi's head. "It's nice to meet you!"
They too looked in shock at Demi then looked at each other and after a moment smiled a bit as Nile nodded.
Then they all sat down to hear Nile's story.
"While you are right I am a magician..." Nile began "I'm also not completely human....Well I am but not 'alive' anymore..."
"I don't get it..." Tenna replied in confusion.
"You're basically saying you're undead." Eric replied
Nile nodded and as explained "You see I come from Egypt 5000 years ago...."
"Wait!" Tenna replied in a surprised tone "You're saying you're a mummy for real?!"
"Yes!" Nile nodded as she showed her bandages. "I am... Along time ago...I was training under my Uncle Ankh and his mentor Droopkenkhamen and I wasn't a very good at my magic....Even then...." Nile sighed
**Flashback**
"I dunno what to do with her." Uncle Ankh sighed as he discussed with his mentor. Ankh was tall, long and thin. His face was very long as well and because of his eye brows that kinda had a "spider like" design, along with wore purple long robes he wore and one would mistake him as being a villain. However, he truly loves and cares for his niece deeply like any family would their own. He just wanted to help Nile, so that one day she will take his place and become a priestess when his time as Pharaoh's Priest was over.
His mentor on the other hand was very short. He was a midget who also had a long face, but he had been in good spirits. Droopken as he was known for short, wore a navy blue Egyptian robes.
"Do not threat, Ankh." Droopken said "She is young and inexperience. You weren't exactly royalty's best choice when you were her age."
"Yes but I had at least have more control when I was her age." Uncle Ankh sighed.
"As I was training my spells, I accidentally said a spell while Droop stopped by at my Uncle's pyramid."
"Like a shadow that disappears in the night, turn me invisible as quick as light!" Young Nile called out
Within a moment, Droop's shadow seemingly came to life and started to move about on it's own.
"By Isis!" Nile panicked as she grabbed his shadow and hid it behind her back.
Droop turned around and said "Did you say something Nile?"
"Me?" Nile lied "Oh no, I didn't say anything."
Then Droop turned around and looked at the wall to see Nile's shadow but not his.
"Where's my shadow?" Droop asked in concern.
"Oh it must have went away to escape from the heat." Nile lied a bit more nervously again. "I'm sure it will turn up again somewhere."
"What's that behind your back?" Droop asked
"Oh, its nothing..." Nile said as she tried hiding his shadow.
"My shadow!" Droop exclaimed. With that Nile ran as fast as her feet could carry her. As she was heading out from her uncle's pyramid, she ran passed her uncle, who also started to chase after her.
"I knew I couldn't run any longer so I ran into an old abandon pyramid. While I was looking for a place to hide, I stumbled upon a hidden door way."
"Oh drat!" Nile cursed her luck as she walked into the hidden room. "This is just an old treasure chamber!" Then she heard her mentor and her uncle outside the old chamber. She then looked at what appeared to be an old treasure map.
"Oh no!" Nile exclaimed She grabbed her mentor's shadow and squeezed it into a tiny potion bottle charm that she was wearing and then she decided to do one last spell. "I hope this works! Okay here it goes! Like a mummy that hides inside a tomb, I must become invisible to escape my doom!"
With that the statue of an Egyptian Goddess' eyes flashed. By the time Nile's Uncle and Droopken got there it was too late, the spell had started. Nile began to float in a ball of light and the treasure map from the wall began to unravel and wrap around her into bandages.
"Oh Uncle, I didn't mean too!" Nile exclaimed frighteningly
"Nile!" Her Uncle cried out helplessly as he watched his niece become a mummy.
Then the sarcophagus opened up and two large, demon like hands, emerged out and grabbed Nile, pulling her into the ancient coffin and sealing her fate. Within a second, the door to the chamber slammed shut and that was the end of it.
"We gotta get your niece out of there!" Droop cried "Without my shadow, how can I get to the afterlife?"
"Unfortunately, this spell even I can't undo with my powers of magic." Uncle Ankh said sadly "She was always a lousy magician, but still she is my niece. I should have been less hard on her..."
"Well without my shadow..." Droop started to fit his name. "I' don't think I'll ever be happy again...."
Back in the present time.
Samantha: "We were going to pick up our nanny at the airport, who would turn out to be a horrible strict one, judging by the note she sent us. Lucky our parents are a bit clueless. If anything odd happened in front of them, they'd be completely oblivious about it."
Alex: "We went to find a complaint window after the vending machine ate our money, but we ended up in the storage room of the airport. While we were trying to find an exit, we stumbled upon Nile's sarcophagus."
Samantha walked over to the sarcophagus. Her face gleamed as she saw it. "Look Alex! It's a sarcophagus!"
"Big whoop..." Alex said not really excited to see an ancient coffin. To him that kind of stuff was a bit boring.
"Maybe someone is in there!" Samantha said as she picked up a crowbar that was laying on the ground and then wedged in the opening side of it. With a little effort, she manage to sprung open the sarcophagus, revealing the mummified magician inside. Her eyes closed and her arms in the usual cross position of a mummy.
"Alex, look!" His sister exclaim quietly "A mummy! Isn't it great?"
"Eh..." Alex replied with a shrug. "I prefer a vampire..." After he said that, the mummified girl glowed with a static kind of sound. As soon as she ceased to glow, the mummy opened her eyes.
Samantha gasped and Alex brightened up and said "Wow, now that's cool!"
Nile yawned and stretched up as if she had woken up from a really long nap and indeed she did. A nap that lasted 5000 years. As she tried to walk she tripped and fell.
"Are you alright?" Samantha asked as the two kids helped the mummified magician up and walked her to a box, where she could sit down.
"Yes, thanks for asking..." Nile said "Can you please escort me to the pyramid of my honorable Uncle Ankh? "
"Oh wow, she's lost it!" Alex laughed
"What day is today?" Nile asked as she noticed she wasn't no longer in the tomb, she remembered being in before she was mummified.
"Uh...Wednesday." Sam answered
"What year?" Nile asked
"It's 2001 of course." Alex answered
"My Isis!" Nile said in shock "I missed several decades! What pharaoh is now reigning?"
"Uh..." Sam didn't know how to break it to her but she just said "Actually pharaohs no longer exist. They haven't for 5000 years!"
"5000 years but that's impossible!" Nile cried out.
"She's losing it big time...." Alex said in concern as Nile looked at herself through a reflection of a slate of glass.
"Oh no, I turned myself into a mummy with that spell!" Nile exclaimed and began to cry.
"It's not so bad Miss Mummy..." Samantha told her as both children put their hands on her shoulders comfortingly.
"Nile..." Nile said her name whimpering. She didn't like being referred as a mummy despite she was one. She didn't need to be reminded of that concept, least at the moment.
"Okay Nile." Samantha explained with an upbeat tone. "Alex and I will help you. I'm Samantha by the way."
"First, lets get you out of here." Alex said
"But how, my legs are totally stiff?" Nile said as she looked at her now greenish feet.
"Lets use the convaire belt." Alex suggested as they dragged Nile gently to the convaire belt.
Alex hopped onto where the levers for the convaire belt speed were.
"Slow, medium or fast?" Alex asked
"Slow." Sam answered. With that Alex press down the slow lever and hopped onto the convaire belt they were on.
"Oh a moving road!" Nile happily implied at the strange rubbery pathway she sat on.
When they got off they spotted someone in line coming out of a flight. It was their nanny. She had a red uniform dress with a short jacket. Her hair was tied in a gray bun and she was yelling at the man the ticket line for eating and accidentally slopping his hot dog right into her. She then headed towards the showers.
The kids looked at Nile and then looked at each other. "I got it!" Both exclaimed. Then they sneaked into the shower room where the nanny was and grabbed her stuff, including her clothes. Then they hurried out.
"Look hun, there are the kids!" Their mom said.
"Oh!" Their father happily said as their children ran up to them.
"Mom that's her!" Sam said pointing to a certain direction. The parents turned to see Nile dressed in the nanny's jacket and skirt. Her unwrapped stomach was showing and her legs and hands were still wrapped in bandages. Sam thought it'd be more stylish if Nile wore it in a "modern fashion", to make it look less uniform like and being they knew their parents wouldn't even think of asking, they left some of the bandages on Nile.
"That's our nanny!" Alex explained to them.
Nile came over and bowed down to them "May the Gods protect you honorable employer."
"Oh please." The mother said kindly to her lifting Nile's chin up. "There's no need to be so formal Heidi" (Heidi was the original Nanny's name)
"My name is Nile." Nile explained as she got up.
"Nile?" Julius asked
"Yeah its her nickname!" Alex lied
"Ah!" Dorothy (the mother) kissed both Nile's cheeks like they do in France and said "Welcome to the family Nile!" Neither parents seemed at all suspicious or surprised at their new nanny's appearance nor even questioned the bandages on her hands, legs and feet. To them it was perhaps a style and the faint dull skin, was a result of being in the sun too long or not at all.
***End of Flashback***
Devi and her friends stared at them in shock on what they just told. They couldn't believe what they just told them.
"I know all of it sounds far fetched but its true!" Sam told them. "Nile is really a 5000 year old mummy and if you don't believe us, here's a little proof." She opened Nile's shoulder bag and out popped a black transparent figure. It made a hissing sound as it moved. This surprised the three knights and their familiars as they moved back a little bit. Nile quickly stuffed the shadow back into the back and chuckled nervously, not meaning to scare their new friends.
"Whoa!" Tenna finally replied nervously "You weren't kidding! That's amazing and smart thinking about the whole nanny part!" She and Alex joined knuckles together in a celebrating hand gesture.
"Wow, sounds like you have a pretty interestingly life." Devi added.
"Well it can be hectic sometimes, especially since Nile's Uncle and his friend drop by for a visit so suddenly, sometimes..." Sam explained
"Really, how?" Tenna asked
"Through some time portal..." Alex answered as if it were nothing new.
"They just come out of no where sometimes and then they're always dragged back in the portal" Sam explained
"So they come out and then they're forced back in?" Devi asked to be sure.
"Yup!" Sam nodded. "Sometimes they're able to stay for a little while, but then suddenly they are dragged back in the portal again."
"Are they trying to get Nile back into their time?" Eric finally asked
"They're after the shadow Nile stole." Alex said
"And whenever we can give it back to them, they end up getting dragged away." Sam explained again "And his friend often threatens Nile so she often runs away."
"Yikes and I thought the principal at my school was harsh..." Eric implied
"Oh please, its not like he can do anything real bad." Devi explained "A simple punishment is just to teach a lesson and if it's from your Uncle, I doubt it's life threatening..."
"Yeah, you're already dead." Tenna explained "What's the worse he can do?"
"Eh my Uncle once turned a servant into a maggot and made him stay in the sun all day for insulting him..." Nile explained "He's a very powerful magician and one that you one shouldn't cross...In my homeland, the harsher the punishment the better."
"Yeah, didn't they feed people to the crocodiles?" Eric asked
"Yup, the mighty pharaoh still does that." Nile added "We have traveled into the past a couple times and had some close calls."
"Damn..." Eric replied with his ears folding down.
"So you're magic users too?" Nile asked them.
*****
Mean while back into the dark dimension, Anne had been watching the whole thing. "Well, this is interesting..." She smirked. Nny and Nuka looked up at her in slight curiosity. Nny was just sitting in a metal chair, exhaustively from a torment. Nuka sat on the floor, scratching his head with his head with his boot. It seemed like he had a bad case of flees or something.
"It seems like they found the fourth knight." Anne explained as she showed them her crystal ball. The two looked in the crystal ball and saw Nile in the crystal ball.
"She looks hideous!" Nuka said and laughed "Ha! My kind of girl!"
Nny looked at him with a slight groan and then looked at Nile. Inside he wasn't too convinced that she was the one. Something in his darkened heart was telling him, that Nile wasn't the one but decided to keep his thoughts to himself.
"Well, what do you think?" Anne asked
"You'll have to ask Dark Master..." Nny answered
"Glad to have your opinion..." Anne muttered sarcastically under her breath. Then she looked up at the dark liquid like sky.
"Yes, my master..." Anne said
"As you wish..." Nny said as he too heard his master speak. Nuka smiled excitedly.
"Then we shall do as we can to make this dead girl well dead again!" Anne laughed. Nuka and Nny looked at her unamused by her horrible joke...
****
The knights invited their new found friends to Mina's shop, where Mina and Edgar introduced themselves.
"So you're like these magical knights that fight evil or something?" Sam asked
"And you're looking for this fourth knight?" Alex said "Wow that's really cool!"
"Hey is that why you wanted to talk to Nile?" Sam asked curiously as she looked at them. "Do you think she possibly could be the fourth knight?"
"Oh..." Nile said nervously holding her left hand up to her mouth in an unsure manner.
"Well, we dunno yet." Devi clarified "We wanted to get to know you and see for ourselves and if she isn't the fourth knight, well, we could always use some extra assistance. If that's alright with you, Nile?"
"Oh..." Nile said again not really sure to be up to it as she looked at the children. Then she finally said "Well, I guess it would be alright."
Devi looked at Nile in concern. She didn't seemed to like the idea at one bit. As the kids played with Tenna and Eric, Devi came up to Nile who was watching the children play.
"Hey Nile." Devi greeted as friendly sounding as she could be.
"Oh, hello, noble knight." Nile greeted her the same way but still a bit nervous.
"Um..." Devi replied "Call me Devi."
"Oh, sorry..." Nile said as she put her hand to her mouth "You'll have to forgive me, honorable Devi. Back in my home country, we're suppose to refer to someone by their title."
"It's okay." Devi said kindly "I understand. Anyway, is it okay if I ask, are you comfortable with this whole knight thing? I mean you didn't seem to be real willing to."
"I dunno..." Nile answered as she turned and looked down.
"It's okay to be honest." Devi clarified to her comfortingly "I admit I didn't wanted to have anything to do with being a knight or using magic, at first."
"I'm not much of a fighter..." Nile stated sadly "Plus my magic is the farthest thing from good. I always cause trouble it seems when I use a spell..."
"Well, by the sounds of it you just needed more time to get the hang of it." Devi implied "You just didn't have time to when you got mummified."
"Perhaps..." Nile simply replied then she looked at the children playing and smiled. "I also worry about their safety..."
"You seem to really care about those two a lot." Devi said warmly with a smile.
"Well of course I do." Nile stated happily. "If it weren't for them, who knows where I would have ended up. I would probably have never awakened and if I did, I would be lost and scared with no one to turn to. Those two really saved me when they opened my sarcophagus, even if they may not know it. I would have been really lost without them."
"I'm sure they feel the same way about you Nile." Devi chuckled. "I mean I think any kid would rather have someone like you for a nanny, any day."
"Aww, really?" Nile asked as she perked up a bit.
Devi nodded and continued " A kid needs to be around someone that protects and disciplines, but also allow them to be who they are and have someone care for them. Even if that person does mess up sometimes. It's part of being human."
"Aww, thank you Devi!" Nile said joyfully. "Your words are like the sunlight upon my heart."
Devi giggled as Demi said to Devi "She's quite poetic isn't she?"
"I will try to do my best to help you..." Nile added "I'm not sure if I'm this noble knight you're looking for."
"To be honest, Nile, I don't think you are the knight we've been looking for." Devi stated as gently as she could.
"Oh... really?" Nile asked somewhat disappointingly cause she really wanted to help them.
"Yeah and no, its not cause I don't think you can fight." Devi explained "It's just that I'm suppose to know by feeling if someone is the one or not. And something's telling me you're not the knight. Least that's what my heart is telling me."
"Oh well, I'm sorry for the let down then..." Nile replied
"No, it wasn't a let down at all, Nile." Devi told her. "We're all very glad to have met all of you."
"Well, let me know if there is anything I can assist you in." Nile insisted happily. "Especially magic wise. I'll certainly am willing to try my best."
"Thank you, Nile." Devi gratefully said "That means a lot to us."
They heard something shot out near Tenna, Eric and the two children. Devi and Nile look in shock then heard laughter and look up to see where it was coming from.
Anne Guish giggled as she stood up in the air with Johnny and Nuka beside her. "Hello, Devi..." She smiled which made Devi's stomach wanna turn. "I hope you appreciate my present of fried munchkins."
"Devi, the children!" Nile pointed out as Devi looked where the children had been shot. It caused a fire that surrounded the kids, separating them from Eric and Tenna, who were on the outside of the flame's "circle".
Eric kissed Tenna to transform into his human form and the two jumped away from the flames.
"Alex, Samantha!" Nile called out to them.
"Nile!" Sam cried
"We're trapped!" Alex called out.
Eric flew up and tried to reach for the kids, but the flames suddenly shot out over him as if by magic. He tried a couple more times in different directions of the flames, but it was no good. The final time he tried the flames shot out and singed his arm a tiny bit causing him to fall back.
"It's no use, I can't get them!" Eric hissed as he arched up. Tenna ran to him to see if he was alright.
"That took a while for you to figure out!" Anne laughed
Devi growled as Demi floated beside her. "Devi! Now!"
"Mhm!" Devi nodded. Demi glowed and merged into Devi allowing her to transform into her knight form.
"Samantha, Alex!" Nile said as she walked towards the flames quickly spreading, which arched up over her.
"What a foolish idiot!" Anne laughed "THIS is your fourth knight?!"
Nny darted down with his energy blade towards Nile who screamed in fear, but Eric blocked his attack with his energy blade and the two went at each other.
"Nile, get away from the flames!" Tenna warned her as she held Nile's arm.
"But the children!" Nile cried
"We'll get em out to safety but right now you need to get some place safe!" Tenna told her.
Tenna managed to get Nile away and then tried to help Devi fight Anne. Nile just stood there and watched the flames that surround the children. She never felt so helpless before and then she remembered something that her Uncle told her.
"Nile, listen very carefully." He would tell her. "While you are being taught magic to help our noble pharaoh, the strongest magic can come forth by the determination to protect something that is most valuable to you."
"Valuable to me?" The young Nile would ask.
"Yes, I don't mean jewels or possessions." Uncle Ankh told her. "I mean something important like those you love and cherish. Even the worst magicians can activate true magic, if they desperately need to use it to protect something or someone important."
Remembering this Nile clutched her hands in a praying position. "Noble Gods..." She pleaded "Please give me the power and strength to protect them...To protect my new family!" With that she opened her eyes and proceeded towards the flames.
Anne began laughing as she noticed this. Devi and Tenna looked in shock and worry.
"No, Nile!" Devi called out.
"Get back!" Tenna called to Nile.
"Don't do it!" Eric shouted but it was too late. Nile was already in the flames.
"Nile!" Devi cried out.
"Ha!" Anne laughed "Too bad...I wanted to see her so called powers of a knight. Oh well...Her sniveling whining was getting on my nerves anyway!"
With the last remark Devi charged and slammed her fude brush onto Anne's arm. "How can you be so heartless!" Both Devi and Demi said at the same time angrily. Then she pushed Anne away. "You're nothing but a heartless piece of garbage! I won't forgive you!"
"What did you say?!" Anne growled as she clutched her fist. When she was about to charge, Devi swiped her face with her fude brush knocking her back.
"Devi look!" Tenna announced as she pointed at the flames. Devi got closer to where the flames were. What she saw she couldn't believe. Nile was alright, she was still walking through the flames slowly and steadily.
"Amazing..." Eric said as he and Nny were distracted from the scene.
"Nile!" Sam cried out.
"I'm coming!" Nile called out to them. Putting her hands up as she moved through the flames. "I'm almost there, hold on!" A golden aura seemed to cover Nile's body, protecting her from the flames that tried their best to engulf her, but just seem to not be touching her at all. Finally, she managed to reach the children.
Sam and Alex hugged her. Their small embrace was short lived, as she picked up Sam and helped guide Alex to safety outside the flames.
"Well I'll be..." Tenna said surprised.
"But how!?" Anne snapped as she finally wiped the ink off her face, well least some of it to where she could see. Then she let out a scream which made the flames arose higher to where they couldn't see them anymore. They could hear the kids screaming in fright.
Tenna and Devi attacked Anne with their attacks and then finally being distracted the flames calmed and then something amazing happened. Nile, still carrying Sam and guiding Alex who was in front of her stepped out of the flames. They ran a good distance away from the flames and after realizing they were out Nile knelt down. All three of them were unharmed surprisingly. A little blackened up by the debris and dirt but other wised completely alright.
"Oh, are you alright children?" She said worriedly as she hugged Sam and dusted Alex's back with the other hand.
"Yeah, I'm alright..." Alex said as he checked himself.
Sam faced Nile after hugging her and said "I'm alright too." Then she cheerfully congratulated their guardian friend. "You were super Nile! You totally saved our lives! Thank you!" With that she hugged Nile happily.
"Yeah, you rocked back there Nile!" Alex jumped up with his hands in two thumbs up. "You were awesome! That's the bravest I think I've seen you!"
"Aww, thank you children..." Nile said as she embraced them both, a couple tears in her eyes. "But if it wasn't for you being in my life, I don't think I would have ever been as strong as I had been."
"Alright!" Eric cheered.
"Way to go!" Tenna also cheered.
Anne managed to knock Devi and Tenna to the ground and then started coming over to Nile and the children. Nile and the two kids noticed her and Nile quickly put the two kids away from Anne, protecting them with her very thin body. The two kids embraced their mummified baby sitter out of fear.
Eric who had lost track of Nny noticed he was missing beside him. Before Anne could attack, Nny had teleported right behind her and put his energy blade against Anne's back. Anne froze in shock. Nile and the kids looked at the two dark warriors in confusion and fright.
"What do you think you are doing?!" Anne exclaimed carefully.
Nny just stared at her for a moment and then simply said "I will not allow you to hurt them."
"What?!" Anne exclaimed again in a voice choked with fear.
Everyone looked at Nny in surprise as he continued to speak.
"She is not the chosen knight and I do not like to see children getting hurt..." Nny said in his emotionless tone.
"What are you saying?!" Anne replied
"I think you understood what I said..." Nny replied back in a dead kind of tone. "She is not the chosen knight, therefore, there is no need to kill her and if you hurt those two kids, it will be the last thing you do." He said the last part with his blade brushing against Anne's back.
With that, Anne lowered her hands in a surrender then flew up and teleported away. Nile looked at Nny for a moment and Nny looked at Nile in the same emotionless stare he had, before making his blade disappear and then flying up and teleporting away as well.
The three knights flew slowly to the ground and stared at where Nny was. They were a bit surprised at Nny's behavior.
"What was that about?" Tenna asked as the three looked up in wonder and a little worry.
"I have no idea..." Eric answered.
Devi looked worried and just didn't say anything.
****
"Well I'm glad you're alright." Devi implied happily at their new found friends.
"Yeah, you're so kick butt!" Tenna exclaimed excitedly. "No wonder that many of us thought you might be the fourth knight!"
"I'm sorry for the disappointment you felt that I wasn't..." Nile apologized
"It's alright." Eric told her warmly.
"Yeah, Nile you were super back there!" Sam reminded her.
"Yeah, so what if you're not this knight they thought you were!" Alex told her. "You saved our lives! That's what matters!"
"Yeah you'll always be a hero to us Nile!" Sam told her.
"Aww, thank you!" Nile said gratefully as she wrapped her arms around the both of them and gave them a big hug that surprisingly looked like she was choking them, despite very bony arms she had, then she implied in her native speak. "Your praise warms my heart like a ray of sunlight on the sand of homeland!"
"Aww..." The three knights looked warmly at them and all were just glad they were alright. They may not have found the fourth knight, but they found wonderful new friends.
"Anyway, I'm sure your parents are wondering what's taking so long for me to bring you home." Nile finally said. Then she turned to their new friends. "I may not be the knight you are looking for, but if you need any assistance, I will be honored to help in anyway."
"And we thank you for doing that." Edgar humbly said. "It's nice to have some more friendly faces on our side."
"Yeah, and we also wanna come back and hang out too!" Alex said. "You guys are cool!"
"If that's okay with you guys." Sam implied.
"I don't see the problem with that." Mina finally said.
"Yeah, as long as you guys stay safe when there's a fight going on." Eric implied as he pointed his finger up. "We don't want to have same incident again..."
"Oh, don't worry about that." Nile insistent as she waved her hand to herself in a suave kind of way. "I am a master of finding good places to hide and keep safe."
"Yeah..." Alex rolled his eyes "And she often drags us with her when she decides to be a chicken..."
"Well...that's...always a good thing..." Eric said not really knowing what else to say. "I guess..." Tenna giggled to herself and Devi just remained a bit awed by that statement. They finally all went home afterwards. What new adventures awaited them remained a mystery.
