That morning, Devi woke up from a dream about the other day. As she turned her head she notice Demi a sleep beside her, in a little basket bed that she had made for her the little doll to sleep in. The basket was on a small desk, Devi had pulled beside her bed. She was surprised at first upon waking up. She had thought that she had all dreamed all that at first, but her familiar was real in the real world. No longer just an illusion in her head or a voice.
She had smiled at her familiar. It looked just like a little child like person a sleep in a bed. Her little pig tails twitched as she slept as if she was dreaming. Devi wondered if Demi was having the same dream Devi had, being she said that she was a part of her. She gently touch Demi on the head with her finger. This caused Demi's pigtails to twitch up and down a little more, before waking up and looking up at her.
Then she floated up and playfully said "Good morning!"
"Morning." Devi replied warmly at her new friend.

After breakfast, Devi had gotten dressed for the day and was brushing her hair while Demi was playing with Devi's make up. She was rubbing her little hands in the mascara as if playing with paint.
"Hey, that mascara isn't cheap you know!" Devi told her.
"Why do humans put this stuff on their face so much?" Demi asked "Is it suppose to symbolize something?"
"It's to improve one's appearance." Devi explained to her.
"So they don't like what they naturally look like?" Demi asked
"Well, kinda in some ways." Devi explained "Older people wear it to cover in wrinkles to make them look younger. Younger people wear it to hide blemishes. Me, I just wear some make up to look cool."
"I see, so that's why they like to spend time looking in the mirror." Demi replied "They want to make sure they look pretty."
"Yes..." Devi replied Then said in a negative tone of voice. "That and some people wear a lot of make up to hide the ugliness within their hearts..."
"Their hearts have ugliness?" Demi asked. Devi looked at her in a bit of surprised. Demi was both like a little child that didn't know much about the world, yet had a wise spirit when it came to certain things. Perhaps she just didn't understand the basics of the human world, but knew a lot of the spiritual kind.
"Well, like..." Devi tried to explain. "Like, some people focus on their outer appearance too much because they know in personality, they're ugly themselves. Like they're either cruel, selfish, and full of themselves, so they want to make people believe they're physically attractive ."
"I see!" Demi replied "At least I think so...They just want people to think they're beautiful because they can't make friends by being who they are..."
"Sorta..." Devi said as she tilted her head and raised her eye brow.
"That's kinda lonely though..." Demi said sadly as she looked down. "Being liked for only your looks...Those people must be lonely..."
Devi said "Yeah, they probably are." Then she thought "They kinda deserve it too for being scum that they are."
Demi floated up as she magically took two hair ties and tied Devi's hair into her usual pigtails.
"Aww, thanks..." Devi said gratefully
"Devi doesn't need to get all prettied up to make friends!" Demi cheerfully said "People are attracted to you cause you're a good person! And you already look pretty as the way you are."
Devi looked at her in surprised and then warm expression came to her face as she smiled. She thought about how she hadn't smiled this much since first meeting Johnny, least before the incident. In fact, she felt nothing but relief and positiveness since accepting Demi and her powers. It was like she was finally free of something that was weighing down on her shoulders.
Speaking of that, she went over to a painting she was doing. It was of the city from the roof of her apartment. She had been working on it for a while, so she decided to work on it alittle bit now that she felt well enough to do so. As she was working on it, she thought about the time she and Johnny were watching the city from above on the hill.
A flashback came to her head as she remember Johnny giving her a doll he had made.
*flashback*
"So, what is it that you wanted me to see, Nny?" Devi said and giggled "Oh cool, I made a rhyme!"
Johnny chuckled and said "Yeah, you did! I wanted to give you something I made. Close your eyes."
As Devi closed them, Johnny pulled out a doll from his back and then said "Now open them."
As soon as Devi opened her eyes, she gasped in awed as she took the doll in her hands. "Aw, that's so sweet!" The doll had a round head with button eyes. It was wearing a small dress and had what looked to be pig tails.
"It's not very good..." Johnny replied "But I thought I try it out. They say that to really express one's heart to someone, is to give them something you made yourself."
"That's very sweet, thank you, Johnny!" Devi replied as she cuddled the doll to her face.
Sometime during the incident when Devi first defended her self against Johnny, she had lost that doll.
*Flashback ended*
Mean while back in the dark area, Johnny, as punishment, was locked in his chambers, chained the cold stone walls that surround him. His clothes were stained red by his own blood after a heavy beating. It surprised him on how he was even alive. He woke up lifting his head. He actually dreamed of that memory with Devi.
"Was it just a dream?..." He manage to barely speak out loud. "Or did it really happen?" He then had a flashback in his head of him, picking up the doll after she ran off. With this, he managed to break his right hand out of the cuff of one of the chains, then reach into his pocket where he believed he always put that doll afterwards and actually pulled the very doll right out slightly.
He sighed in relief. He finally actually remembered something. Mean while, someone far away was calling to him. In a golden bird cage, what seemed to be a small little person laid on the floor of the cage. He called out mentally "Johnny, do you...remember?"
Back at Devi's, Devi looked at Demi who at one point looked almost exactly like the little doll Johnny had made. Not anymore however, because Demi's appearance changed to a more lively appearance and she was wearing a more flowing magenta dress, slightly shredded at the bottom like some sort of goth fairy would wear.
"What's wrong?" Demi asked as she looked at her master.
"Oh..." Devi replied "It's nothing...Demi, a while back, Johnny gave me this doll and it looked just like you almost when you first appeared. Is that one of the reasons why you look a little like me and that doll?"
"Um..." Demi thought about it and said "I think so...You see as familiars we only know primary stuff like how a mage can use their powers, the personality of their mage and little things like that... That's why I only know so much especially about the human world...As for my appearance, familiars tend to take the form of something that was special to them, or take the form to represent a part of themselves they tried throwing away."
With that Demi floated up to her and said "Like the reason why I'm so cheerful and look familiar to you, is cuz you tried giving up your happiness and maybe your personal feelings toward him, but didn't completely want to."
"Hmm..." Devi replied
"You don't think Nny's completely a bad guy." Demi told her.
This made Devi look at her in surprise especially when she used Johnny's nickname and then looked down. "Don't say anything to Tenna and Eric," Devi said "but yeah, I can't help but think that maybe he's struggling too inside and maybe out as well..."
"You're a good person Devi..." Demi replied happily "And I promise I won't tell. I don't think he's a bad guy either."
Devi pet the doll on the head and asked in an upbeat tone "You don't think anyone is bad do you?"
"Not really!" Demi replied "Not any humans anyway, but then again I can't say much cause I never seen the human world too much..."
Devi giggled at her little friend as Demi asked "Hey, do you think its okay if I could see what ice cream tastes like?"
"Um...." Devi thought about it a little bit.Then she heard a knock on the door and opened it to let her friends in.
"Hey, hows it going?" Tenna replied as she brought Eric in bat form and Mr.Spooky. Spooky in Tenna's arms while Eric was sleepily on Tenna's right shoulder. Spooky jumped out of Tenna's arms to greet Demi. They playfully glomped and hug each other cheerfully like kids did when they were excited to see each other.
"Pretty good." Devi manage to say.
"Wow, you actually sound like you're in a good mood!" Tenna replied happily. "I mean that's rare, so I'm guessing accepting your powers is letting you relax a little."
"Yeah, I guess..." Devi replied with a smile.
"That's good..." Eric yawned "Glad you're in better spirits."
"You okay Eric?" Devi asked
"Yeah..." Eric replied perking up his ears and said "I'm fine."
Eric flew over and hung by shelf in the shade. This made Demi comment "I think the sun makes vampires sleepy..."
"Spooky." Mr. Spooky replied.
"So, what do you want to do?" Tenna asked
"Hmm?" Devi replied
"Well, its a beautiful day." Tenna replied "We can't just waste it staying inside."
"You'd go out when there's a hurricane." Devi joked.
"Well, maybe..." Tenna replied as she thought about doing that sometime.
"I'll be able to come too right?" Demi asked
"Um..." Devi replied "Hold on, I haven't even agreed to go out. After all, we just went out yesterday."
"But we should go out in case you know who shows up." Tenna added.
This made Devi looked down as she felt bad about him. She wondered if he was even still a live.
"Did I say something wrong?" Tenna asked.
"No..." Devi replied "Plus, if something does show up, that's why we have internet and radio and TV."
"Aww... Come on!" Tenna whined like a little kid. "I mean we finally got you out and about again!"
"Okay...okay..." Devi replied no longer wanting to argue.
"Can I come?" Demi asked
"Well..." Devi thought about and said "If Johnny or someone else from the darkness does attack, then I should take you with me, but you have got to stay hidden at all times. Dolls floating and talking by themselves isn't exactly an everyday sort of thing."
"Aww, poo Devi!" Tenna replied "She'll be fine! Mr. Spooky comes along with me everywhere! Even to work!"
"Oh, shoot that reminds me!" Devi replied "This Friday, I have to go in for a meeting..." She moaned and said "I hate meetings...They always talk me into doing them stupid stuff..."
"What do you work as?" Eric asked
"An artist for this one company." Devi replied "Actually, its a company that works for many companies so I have to produce artwork and designs for posters and shit like that...."
"I see..." Eric replied
"The only reasons why I work for them is because they're the only company I could find that's close by, allows me to do artwork and allows me to do it at home." Devi explained. "Plus, it helps pay the rent for this place."
"Hmm.." Eric replied with nod.
"Anyway, I guess we should be off..." Devi replied "But remember, I got some work to do Tenna, so I really can't do this every day."
"Yeah, yeah..." Tenna replied. "I got a job too, so I understand."
Eric flew into Tenna's bag with Mr.Spooky, that way he could stay out of the sun light and still come along with them. Sun drained him if he stayed in it too long especially on hot days, so he tried staying out of it when he could.
"Cool!" Tenna replied "Let's hit the arcade and play some video games and then head to a snack bar!"
Eric and Devi both did a sigh like they wanted to do a face palm at Tenna's actions.
While they were out, Demi didn't exactly do what Devi told her to do and stay hidden. She was so fascinated with all the things around her, especially at the arcade. With all the flashing lights and colors, it was hard for the little fairy like creature to keep from wandering off.
"Hey, Devi, is this what pop corn kernels are?" Demi asked as she floated over to a popcorn machine at a snack shop.
"Demi!" Devi snapped as she picked her up by her little dress. "I thought I told you to stay hidden!"
"What's going on?" Asked the clerk of the shop.
"Oh, nothing!" Devi said as she quickly hid Demi behind her back. However, Demi managed to squeeze out of her grip and floated off to whatever distracted her. Mr. Spooky would float off too to find Demi and bring her back to Devi, reminding her to keep hidden and forgetting that he needed to keep hidden too.
Mean while, back in the Dark Area, a witch name Anne Guish watched from her crystal ball. She had seen the whole thing and by watching them, she came up with her plan. A frantic young man with crazy black hair and a scar on his right eye came over. A black shirt with black and gray sleeves and long pants was what he was wearing. He had a crazy grin as he said
"Looks like that failure of a knight, Nny, failed once again!" He laughed crazily. "I don't see why Master puts up with him! He should have died along time! We should have killed him and then I would be able to the Master's more favored warrior!"
"Hush!" Anne Guish snapped "You incompetent fool! Even if it weren't for Nny, you'd still be a lowly quivering worm to the master!"
"Oh, but why is he favored, why does he is trusted with the most important missions?" The man said. “Half the time he disobeys them, especially regarding brats! He refuses to hurt them and I would have cut their head off!”
Anne grabbed his face to hush-in him up for a few seconds. "Because Nny, is actually an important part to our master's plans. He is special but we can't reveal yet why he's special, not even to you. It's too early in the story. Anyway, its not like you have lifted a claw around here, you measly slimy slug!" With that she shoved him to the ground.
"Aww, Anne!" Giggled the crazy man like he received a compliment from his girlfriend. "Thanks for those flattering words! I try!"
Anne just rolled her eyes and felt like she was gonna puke.
"Oh what you got there?" The man asked. "Hey aren't those the two sprites those sissy girls have?"
"Yes...." Anne replied as she looked at her crystal ball curiously.
"Ooh, it looks like you got a plan am I right?" the crazed man asked "Can I be a part of it?"
"No!" Anne replied "I can take care of this myself. Our master will be please once I get those darling little dolls as a gift and token to our success. Well mainly mine and our master of course."
The crazed man grumbled as Anne walked away.
"Oh and Nuka or should I say...Mmy? Anne asked in a callous manner towards the crazed man.
“Don't call me that!" the crazed man snapped
"Whatever....Try not to break anything around here and don't disturb Nny. Remember the last time you did that?"
"Don't remind me..." Nuka replied "That's how I got my scar!" As he pointed to his face and rubbed it as he said "That guy's got lousy temper!"
"Actually, you got that from clumsily falling on your face..." Anne reminded him. "You just don't remember because you were knocked unconscious afterwards. Nny actually nearly killed you. How you manage to survive is beyond me. Anyway, tootles hun..." With that she disappeared.
It was pretty hectic for the two. Devi and Tenna had to grab their familiars and pulled them away from where people can see them. Eric would also tried to find them. Devi and Tenna didn't worry too much about Eric, being despite it was odd for a bat to be flying in the day, it was more natural then seeing two flying dolls.
Eric sighed as he sat in a tree to catch his breath. "How hard is it find two dolls floating around?" He said as he panted "God, I hate the sun...or I hate being in it...I'll just sit here and rest for a bit..."
Suddenly, Demi and Spooky had gotten lost. They were far off from where Devi and Tenna were.
"I know, Spooky..." Demi replied when Mr.Spooky told her about staying hidden. "But I can't help it, this world is so vast and there's so many interesting things, I've never thought about seeing! Humans are so creative with their inventions and such things!"
"Spooky..." Mr.Spooky replied.
"Oh..." Demi replied guiltily "Yeah, you're right, I bet Devi is real worried and if the darkness does attack, then they wouldn't be able to fight it without us..." Then she looked around and said "Oh, but where would they be?"
Demi and Spooky looked around nervously. They floated around together trying frantically to find their friends. However, this distracted Anne Guish who tried grabbing, however, both of them scattered.
"Woah!" Demi exclaimed "Who are you?!"
"Oh I'm here to uh..." Anne thought of something quickly "I'm here to take you to your friends. You know that pigtail girl and her friend."
"Really?" Demi asked as she floated down. "That's kind of you..." but as she got closer Spooky stopped her.
"Spooky!!!" Spooky replied as he pointed at Anne.
"What?" Demi asked
"Spooky! Spooky!" Spooky again replied this made Demi close her eyes as if trying to feel something.
"Oh, you have cold dark aura around you!" Demi shouted
"Oh just come here you little twit!" Anne shouted as she tried grabbing the familiar.
"I'm not coming with you!" Demi shouted as she dodge her. "You work for the darkness!"
Anne manage to grab Demi and shove her in the bird cage, but Demi manage to cry and make enough noise that Eric heard the commotion as he was flying. By the time Eric got there, Anne manage to get Mr. Spooky in the cage.
"Hey!" Eric flew in as he scratched Anne's face with his claws.
"Ow!" Anne hissed as she touched her face.
"Eric!" Demi shouted "Get us out of here!"
"Why you little rat with wings!" Anne shouted at Eric.
"Let them go!" Eric demanded "Right now!"
"Ah, sorry, can't do that!" Anne said "But you can join them!" She then grabbed at Eric who dodged quickly. She then managed to bap and slam him to the ground.
"Oh, Eric!" Demi cried worried about her friend as Anne was gonna step on him. Both dolls then used their powers to shake the cage, causing her to drop it! The cage door swung open. Eric flew up.
He sighed as he said "Oh, boy, I'm not gonna like this one bit...." Then he flew over to Anne and gave her a kiss on the lips to change back so he could fight her a little better.
"Ugh, you sick little rat!" Anne spat!
"Hey, its not like I enjoyed it either!" Eric said as he wiped his mouth off and then tried to summon his black energy blade. However, he had a hard time getting the blade out and he looked up at the sky.
Damn it! Eric thought. My powers don't work very well during the day. I'll have to do less head on stuff and just try to get them out as quick as possible!
"Oh your that little vampire kid." Anne said "If I had known that, I would have tried killing you quickly in your little bat form. "
"Enough talk!" Eric stated.
The dolls flew around her to distract her, while Eric manage to blast her in the stomach.
"Why you!" Anne snapped as she shot out what appeared to be a black ball at his back. Eric fell to the ground but manage to get up on his knees. He cringed at the pain he felt on his back.
"Eric!" Demi shouted
This made Eric quickly get up. Anne teleported herself in front of him but Eric reached out and scratched her face with his claws.
She screamed as Eric began using his wings to fly close to the ground to a safer place. He knew flying out into the sky wouldn't help if Anne could shoot from a long distance, he would be sitting duck. He then flew to an ally way and manage to catch his breath.
"Eric, are you alright?" Demi asked
"I'm fine..." Eric panted "But that crazy lady is not gonna stop. Go and find Devi and Tenna, I'll distract the old hag long enough for you two to come back."
"But you can't fight her on your own!" Demi told him.
"Don't worry about me!" Eric said "Listen, if I fly with you, the more likely we're all caught. I'll be fine distracting the old hag. Just find Devi and Tenna and hurry!"
"Right!" Demi said as they flew off.
Eric ran back to distract Anne, who he thought he had seen fly past. He looked around but there was no sign of her.
"Looking for me, pretty boy!" Anne snapped as she surprised attacked him from above. Eric threw a trash can lid from the ally way at her face. "Why you wretched brat!"
"Try to catch me, you wrinkly old bitch!" Eric called to her. This infuriated her as she chased after Eric, who collapsed on his knees out of exhaustion and the heat, but quickly got up and flew quickly as he could.

"I can't find them anywhere!" Tenna shouted
"How hard is it to find two floating dolls!?" Devi asked herself.
Tenna sighed worriedly as she said "I can almost hear their little voices right now..."
"Devi!" Demi called out.
"Spooky!" Mr. Spooky called out.
Devi and Tenna looked up excitedly to see their little friends flying toward them. They hugged their little friends in a brief reunion.
"You worried me sick!" Devi replied as she cuddled Demi.
"I was too, but we have no time for that!" Demi told them. "Eric is in danger! He needs our help!"
Tenna and Devi looked in shock as they heard this then looked at each as they nodded. They head off with their familiars guiding them.
Eric had ran into a warehouse not to far from where they had battled. Luckily, it seemed like Anne was slow but she had manage to hit him a few times and Eric grew weaker in the heat. He thought the warehouse would help him get out of the sun and into some place cool, but it felt worse really. He needed to hide from both the light and Anne. Eric panted heavily in exhaustion and fell to his knees and then heard something. Anne was trailing close by and Eric was at a dead end.
"No, good..." Eric panted out. "Getting tired...Unless..."
Eric got up and put his hands across his chest. He focused his powers to do at least one special attack. If he nailed it he would be alright, but he had only one shot and if it failed, Eric would be pretty much done for.
As soon as he could see Anne at a good shooting distance, he fired out "Earth's Eternal Slumber!" at her. A blast sprung out as soon as the attack hit her. Eric took deep breaths and felt a bit hazy in the head. He glanced up to see if he got a good shot at her. His face turned grim once the smoke cleared and he realized Anne was still there. It was almost as if she didn't even feel the attack and then saw that he had only scratched her arm which she used to block.
Damn it! WTF is this hag made out of, enchanted concrete?! Eric thought as he tried getting up but then fell back this knees.
"Was that your best shot?" Anne said "Pitiful! True I may not be the fastest witch around, but I am indeed far superior when it comes to magic and learn the value of preserving my energy, so when my enemies zoom around and get tired, I have enough energy to make a death blow."
A wise tactic, I must admit... Eric thought but didn't want to compliment her already fat ego.
"Aww, is the little bat boy tired?" Anne said as if she was talking to a child. "Here why don't I help relax you. Put you into a nice and very long sleep." She raised her hands to shoot at Eric when she was shot at by Tenna's attack. There the two girls had made it in just in time. Eric smiled with a smug smile and sighed in relief. Devi quickly got in front of Eric and stood facing Anne.
"Eric!" Tenna asked "Are you alright?"
"Yes, but I'm too worn out to fight!" Eric told them. "You're gonna have to do this one on your own!"
"Alright..." Devi said "Demi, brush form now!" With that Demi raised into Devi's hand and became the fude brush.
"You think you can defeat me!" Anne snapped
"We know we can!" Tenna said as she called out her attack. "Spirit Star Rush!"
"Hikari Heartbeat lock!" Devi called out as both of them shot their attacks.
Suddenly they were blasted back by a reflection spell Anne had used!
"You cannot defeat me that easily!" Anne snapped as she blasted both girls.
"Devi, Tenna!" Eric shouted but the moment he shouted fell to the ground exhaustively.
"Eric?" Devi said as she turned her head to see if he was alright. Devi's blood began to boil just seeing her injured friend lying on the ground motionless.
"Okay, I've had it!" Devi snapped as she waved her brush sending what look to be paint or ink that shot out quickly at Anne. The ink exploded on impact with Anne's body. This had surprisingly had more effect as Devi had used full force with her anger. Anne collapsed to her knees and panted.
Suddenly, some dark clouds formed above them and soon Johnny appeared floating above them . Everyone looked up at him in fear. Already worn out from the battle and here comes more trouble, so they thought.
"Alright, the cavalry has arrived." Anne said happily. "A friend in need is a friend indeed, right?"
"Wrong..." Johnny said in a dark tone. "Master is not pleased. Your mission was an utter failure to catch the familiars and you acted strictly without permission..." He eyed Devi for a little bit and said "Devi, I will kill you, but not today for I'm just here to deliver a message. Anne Guish report back imminently for your punishment. That is an order from the master himself."
With that he disappeared and so did Anne.
"Well, that was a cheery goodbye..." Devi replied. Then she turned to Eric who had collapsed on the ground. She ran to him and held him up in her arms.
"You alright?" Devi asked
"Yeah, but I'm gonna have to wait here though..." Eric replied, his speech kinda breathy as he was still worn out. "At least until I return to my bat form.. If I get into the sun like this I'll get worse..."
"It's alright." Devi said gently said.
"Yeah, we'll keep you company." Tenna replied concern as Eric seem to be almost getting ill if that was even possible for a vampire.
"Thanks guys..." Eric said gratefully.
Demi floated over to Eric and guiltily said "Sorry that I ran off..."
Eric petted the little familiar and said " I'll be alright in a while and we're all alive so no harm done."
"Yeah, just remember to stay close to me." Devi told her.
"Yeah, you guys can't just go floating off by yourselves like that." Tenna told both Spooky and Demi.
The two nodded upon this.
When Eric poofed back into a bat again, they put him gently in the bag and decided to go home.

Eric became real sick this evening. He had stay out in the sun for too while looking for Demi and Spooky who got lost. At the same time, we found that the Darkness has other servants besides Johnny, as we ran into one hell of a bitch that tried to steal Demi and Mr.Spooky.
I'm really worried about Eric. He collapsed in the hall way as we went out to take in some fresh cool air after a hot day. I was able to caught him luckily before he hit the ground but still. Despite he said he just tripped. Tripped my ass! He collapsed because he was sick! I know he doesn't want people to worry about him, but its kinda hard not to worry about someone if they're falling over themselves!
I wish men would drop the macho act sometimes and just let someone help them and worry about them. I can't believe I just thought of that....because... well, I've been trying to keep myself from people in general. But I guess my attitude has to change now that all this has happened. Eric needs to change his attitude of not letting others worry about him. He seems to always get hurt doing that and he says he doesn't care, but how can someone not care?
But then again, I guess when you've been alone alot, you start to think that you have nothing to lose....Anyway that fresh air seemed to help him a little bit. Tenna and I kept an eye on him for most of the night. And tomorrow I my meeting to discussed some illustrations for a children's jungle book. Tenna's gonna take care of Eric if he's still feeling bad and as soon as the meeting is done, I'll help out if I can. I'm probably just gonna keep everyone company. I never thought that I'd be taking care of a sick vampire. Then again, I never thought vampires could get sick to begin with...
