Long ago a great darkness appeared and turn the world into a dreaded place. The only ones that could defeat this darkness were those who had a powerful light. Many of the people sent out the bravest and most noble knights and warriors. Though these warriors seem to stand for the light, in their hearts still were weak with doubt, like their armor, their hearts would rust. Perish, they all did, without a trace just like the hope that went with them.
One day, four powerful knights raised up to defeat the darkness. These knights were know as the "light in the darkness", for they had been outcasts, looked upon as the least likely heroes and were socially banned. When they stood up to the darkness and began winning against it, the people realized the "light" was within a person's heart and when one opens up, the light could easily illuminate. The people were astound by their light and joined their hearts and eventually defeated the darkness.
Little did they know that when people started to forget the light within their hearts, the darkness would rise again. Then four new "lights in the darkness" would rise again to defeat it.

A young girl with orange braided pigtails, wearing a white t-shirt, pink sweatpants and jacket and tennis shoes smiled at a younger looking with short brownish hair, that would later be dyed a magenta color. The orange haired girl had freckles and slightly tan skin. The other girl wore a light pink sweater, brown jeans and tennis shoes. She had pale skin. Both girls had green eyes and looked no older than 7.
"Hey, what's your name?" askedthe orange haired girl.
"Devi...." She replied
"That's a cool name. My name is Mirta." Mirta then handed her hand out to her. "Wanna be friends?"
"Um..." Devi said a little shy. "Okay..."
"Hey don't be shy! It's alright! C'mon, let's go play!" Mirta said as she took her friend to the playground, climbing on the monkey bars, play sets and running around like kids do, until they were got a bit tired. Devi sat in the sand and while Mirta leaned against the monkey bars.
"So, what do you like to do, Devi?" Mirta asked.
"I like to paint a lot..." Devi replied
"That's neat!" Mirta said. "I like to dance! I love to run around a lot too but I have so much fun dancing!"
"I could never be a dancer..."
"It's okay. What you do is great too!"
"You think so?"
"Yeah! Mom always says that being different means you're special and everyone is different so everyone is special."
"I guess you're right." Devi never thought of it that way.
"I love to dance. Hey maybe you can do a picture of me dancing someday!"
"I could!" Devi replied excitedly but then looked down. "But I dunno if it'd be any good...."
Mirta then took Devi's hands and said "I'm sure it will. If you really like something and put a lot of heart to it, you can do anything!"
"Mirta..." Devi was surprised by her words. It boost some of her confidence as she nodded with a determined look in her eyes. "Okay!"
Mirta stood up and began to spin around slowly as she said "Passion is what keeps people going! If you put passion into whatever you desire to do, you can do basically anything. I want to be the best dancer there ever was!" She spun around fast and full of energy. Even though she was young, it was amazing of how well she could move. It was like watching a leaf soar around in the wind. Devi watched in all and got inspired.
A few days later, Devi came to Mirta with a painting of her dancing in a pink tutu. Around the painting of the young girl, was leaves dancing around as if dancing with her.
"This is great!" Mirta replied happily as she looked at it. Her eyes seemed to twinkled at the sight. "I love it! It's so beautiful, especially the way you did the leaves in different colors!"
"Thanks..." Devi replied a bit bashful at her flattery.
"See, I told you that if you put passion into it, you can do anything!" Mirta replied with a thumbs up. Devi nodded with a smile.
We were inseparable. We thought we would be friends forever...but forever is too good to be true...
It all happened within a flash. A little over a year since we met, a car just spun out of no where while Mirta was crossing the street. Killing her instantly...I never cried so much. I was so lonely and I had often put myself into solitude away from other kids, because I was scared of losing another friend like that, but I would never ever give up painting. It was something I know Mirta would have wanted me to do. If I were to try to keep my friend's memory alive, it would be through my desire as an artist.

A young girl with magenta pig tails and a black top and green cargo pants, was painting in her apartment when she kept hearing a strange little voice. It sounded like a little girl's voice but she knew the voice belong to no little girl.
"The great darkness is coming!" Said the voice in a scared way.
"What?" The young girl asked.
"A great darkness is coming!" The voice said again. "You must awaken your light, Devi!"
"Listen, stop talking to me!" The girl said. "It's already bad enough I have to deal with you. Why can't you just leave me alone?"
"But I'm a part of you!" The voice said desperately. "I just want you to be happy and help you!"
"Then shut up!" She told her. "Whatever you are, familiar or whatever, but I don't want to be a witch or mage or whatever the reason why I have you in the first place! I just want to live my life without any crazy circumstances..."
"But you can't ignore me forever..." The voice said
"I can try can't I?" Said Devi
"Because the world needs you!" the voice said
"The world needs another person then!" Devi replied. "What about this darkness you keep blabbing about?"
"I dunno..." The voice said again. "I just sense that a great evil is plaguing the world. If you awaken your light within you, we can rise above it!"
"No!" Devi snapped "All you do is make me talk to myself! Now just shut up!"
Then she plopped to the ground and said "I'm not talking to myself..." Then Devi heard a buzzing sound as she got up and walked over to a bluetooth head set. "Oh jeebus...It's the phone!"
She answered and said "Sorry, Uranus Pizzeria! We deliver everywhere even straight to the bottom! How may I help you? "
"Um, what the hell, Devi?"
"Oh, Tenna, hey! What's up?"
"You that's what's up!" Tenna said over the phone. "And you're being loud. Mind telling me what's wrong?"
Oh shoot a question. She thought and said "I just,just...Hey, nice weather we've been having, eh?"
"Nice try! I'll be right up so we can talk!" Tenna said
"Oh no, really its fine..." But before Devi could say anything, Tenna had already hung up and it wasn't long before she was at her door.
"Terrific..." Devi replied.

"A darkness? There's always been darkness....What's so worrisome about this?" Those were my first thoughts. Forgive my negative attitude, for the story that's about to unfold are full ups and downs. Just like life itself.
I had a decent family life. Well, okay...My mom passed away when I was really young but I was raised well with my dad. It's more so the social life that I struggled with. Ever since I could remember, I had a hard time fitting in, no matter how friendly I was. People either did not like me or something bad would happen to the ones that did. Only a few, including Tenna, manage to stay beside me.
It got so bad to the point I just wanted to quit. I felt like I was cursed. The only thing that motivated me was this little voice in my head and my desire to paint. Oh, I could never stop painting. To not paint is not to live. I just could not exist. I think ones such desires are sometimes the only way you can live, especially if you don't have much. Little did I knew, I did have much. So much more...but I just didn't see it yet, because I let my own darkness cloud my mind.
Now this is my story. This is how my life really began....!
